Eunice's husband Samuel Murray Carr abandoned her in the US in 1867 and she never saw her three children after that as he took them with him to New Zealand. Her brother George Keller was a merchant ship captain who helped her trace her absconding husband's international travels. She was also assisted by the son of her sister Orinda (Keller) White. I think Weston Reade White was living in San Francisco when Eunice went there in 1877 in search of her husband and children and she recruited him to follow up a lead in Nebraska. She remained in San Francisco for about three years before returning to the east where she died in 1881 of pneumonia.
