Charles A. "Charlie" Gilmore, of Murphys, died at a San Andreas convalescent hospital on Feb. 6. He was 89.
He was born in Exeter, N.H., and raised in Winchendon, Mass. He moved to San Jose at the age of 18 to attend San Jose State College and met and married Carol Bolfing, of Gilroy, Santa Clara County. They were married 65 years and raised four children. They traveled extensively around the world and lived in more than 30 homes. He was a business administration consultant.
He was preceded in death by his wife in 2006, after which he moved to Murphys, where he has lived since.
He is survived by four children, Chuck Gilmore, of Arnold; Nancy Hendrickson, of Oregon; Jon Gilmore, of Murphys, and Tom Gilmore, of Angels Camp; 11 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews on the East Coast.
Angels Memorial Chapel handled arrangements. He was cremated and his ashes will be scattered, with those of his wife, at the family ancestral scatter field in the Santa Cruz mountains overlooking Gilroy.
At his wishes, no other services will be held.
