WINCHENDON - Laura B. Gilmore , 89, of 547 Central St., formerly of Cranston, R.I., died yesterday in Henry Heywood Memorial Hospital, Gardner, after an illness.
She leaves a brother, Charles A. Gilmore Jr. of Gilroy, Calif.; a sister, Ethel M. Aldrich of Winchendon; several nephews and nieces. She was born in Exeter, N.H., daughter of Charles A. and Gertrude B. (Keller) Gilmore , and lived many years in Cranston before moving here in 1989. She graduated from the University of New Hampshire in 1924 and received her Master's degree from McGill University in Montreal, Canada. She later studied at the Sorbonne in Paris, France.
Miss Gilmore was a school teacher and head of the Language Department at Cranston, R.I., High School. She later taught at the former Wheelock School in Providence, R.I. She retired many years ago.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. tomorrow in Fletcher Funeral Home, 70 Pleasant St. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to the Gardner Visiting Nurses Association, 95 Mechanic St., Gardner 01440, or to the United Parish Church Stained Glass Window Fund, United Parish, Front St., Winchendon 01475.
